Early Life, Education and Career

Born and raised in Southern Sri Lanka, Sagala Ratnayaka was instilled with values of hard work and public service from a young age. He pursued his education at Royal College Colombo and later obtained a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Lewis and Clark College Portland USA. On his return to Sri Lanka after graduation, he started his career as a financial analyst at Central Finance and later HSBC Sri Lanka where he went on to become a Credit Operations Manager before giving up the corporate world to embark on his calling for politics. His passion for politics began in his youth, drawing inspiration from his family's long-standing commitment to serving the people

The Political Journey

Sagala's political journey began with his dedication to the United National Party (UNP), where he quickly rose through the ranks due to his keen understanding of governance and policy-making. His early years were marked by his determination to represent the voices of the people and his drive to bring about progressive change in Sri Lanka

In 1999 he left corporate life to enter politics and won the Provincial Council elections as one of the youngest provincial councilors
In 2000 he entered Parliament from Matara District - one of the youngest parliamentarians in history

Additionally, offering platforms for small businesses and artisans to showcase locally sourced goods helps strengthen local markets, promote entrepreneurship, and foster a diverse economy. Expanding such initiatives supports sustainable small businesses while building stronger community networks.
